Thirty-three children received free haircuts on Saturday, July 27, thanks to the Dyer County Junior Auxiliary and Salon Oasis of Dyersburg, who helped fund the event. The haircut party took shape as members of the Junior Auxiliary came together to discuss how they could help the community.

“The Junior Auxiliary of Dyer County,” said Chapter President Tennille Harrison, “is always looking for ways to help the community, with children being our priority.” She continued, “The idea to sponsor free haircuts for school-age children came from one of our members as we were brainstorming ways we could make an impact on the children… and help families financially as they return to school.”

She said her organization spent a lot of time discussing who to contact to help with funding and logistics. “After we reached out to Salon Oasis,” she noted, “we had several stylists who were excited to get involved with our projects.”

“With such a success,” she said, “we hope to make this an annual event. We had an exciting morning.”
