A release date has been confirmed for Handmaid’s Tale star Yvonne Strahovski exciting new project.

The actress famously played Serena Joy Waterford in the drama series between 2017 and 2022. However, its sixth and final season is currently in production, stated for release in 2025.

The actress is now starring in a chilling new series called Teacup. Inspired by Robert McCammon’s New York Times bestselling novel Stinger, it follows a group of people in rural Georgia who must come together in the face of a mysterious threat in order to survive.

A creepy 15-second clip dropped, showing a drawing of a deer on the side of a delicate teacup. As the teacup spins, the animal is infested by a terrifying creature with tentacles.

The clip revealed the series will drop on streaming service Peacock this autumn, premiering with its first two episodes. Peacock is available in the UK with a Sky TV or NOW subscription.

Strahovski will play the role of Maggie Chenoweth, while Grey’s Anatomy’s Scott Speedman is cast as James Chenoweth. Echo’s Chaske Spencer, Yellowjackets’ Luciano Leroux and Picket Fences’ Kathy Baker will also join.

Evil’s Boris McGiver, Single Parents’ Caleb Dolden and Transplant’s Emilie Bierre round off the line-up. Teacup is executive produced and written by Ian McCulloch, with Aquaman’s James Wan on board as an executive producer.

Teasing what to expect from the show, Wan said in a statement via TVLine, Wan said: “It’s a genre-bending blend of horror, mystery, and drama, with layers that unfold like a captivating puzzle. It goes beyond chills and thrills and holds up a mirror to humanity, exploring the darkness that resides within us all.”
